| This is a living room and dining room that we designed with the idea of blending the outdoors with modern lines and simplicity. They wanted a space where adults could hang out and have coffee and conversation in a comfortable yet modern setting. Here are some before photos of the spaces (living room and dining room).
We took their love for outdoors and found this Colorado River art piece that became the focal point of the space. The coffee table is a round textured wood surface that makes a very striking center piece for the seating area. The chairs are swivel gliders and are incredibly comfortable. We bought these chairs from a very traditional furniture store here in town, but because we chose funky fabric they are now contemporary pieces. We also took their pine log bookshelf and sprayed it with high gloss almond paint and now it's a modern element in the room. We love re-purposing pieces when we can. This shelving unit displays a few important accessories like family pictures to personalize the space. The leaf art in the entry is die-cut metal and makes the perfect statement as you enter the room. A bone sunburst mirror that brings in the light color of the high gloss wood bookshelf and some tea light candle holders that add some glass and sparkle along the matte metal sofa table used under the art piece all accomplish our desire to have many different textures and surfaces creating a well balanced feel.
Modern spaces don't have to be cold and lifeless...when mixed with organic elements they become warm, comfortable spaces. |
